Ron Smith, a renowned engraver and artist, often creates the exceptional…and he has done it again! During the 2006 Firearms Engravers Guild of America (FEGA) exhibition, Ron unveiled this stunningly engraved and customized miniature engraving block. What you see was a stock GRS MicroBlock before Ron transformed it into an elegant piece of artwork. He did this as a tribute to the 2005 GRS Grand Masters Program which featured special engraving classes taught by Ron and fellow Grand Master, Winston Churchill.
Ron engraved the jaws and crown in one of his graceful styles including fine gold line inlay. On the side of one vise jaw is a gold inlayed portrait of Winston Churchill; the other jaw has a self-portrait of himself, also in gold.
Smith also replaced the standard base with a custom wood base that includes a script engraved plaque with the words, “Grand Masters Program”. The elegant, one-of-a-kind crank wrench is another Smith creation.
