Engraving Glass: Wine & Dine
How wonderful is it to receive a gift made just for you? General
Manager Kim Pember received this beautiful hand made and engraved
glass vase from Glendo employees this Christmas. Glendo commissioned
this work of art from Emporia State University student Evan Markowitz.
A moment in time is captured on this vase depicting a scene of
various wines and cheeses. The
detail is impressive for the
time spent on this piece, the
engraved work totaling less than
twenty four hours. Although he continues to take it slow and concentrate
on his engraved design, Evan does have much more control and freedom
over traditional glass engraving tools like a lathe.
Using a custom GRS rotary handpiece setup, Evan has become quite
adept at using these rotary tools. With such excellent craftsmanship,
it is amazing that Evan has only been blowing glass for a short number
of years, and engraving glass with this technique for less than a
year.
No matter what surfaces interest you, GRS can likely help you engrave
it. Call 1-800-835-3519 to learn what tools will help you follow
your creative passion...whether you work with metal, wood, ivory,
or even glass.
