A 1980's Knife by Schneider and Skaggs
This custom knife was made by H.J. “Herman” Schneider and engraved by Ron Skaggs. It was ordered at the 1980 Knifemaker’s Guild show in Kansas City and delivered in mid-1981. Mr. Schneider’s name is clearly inscribed on one side of this gold inlay hunter, but there is no engraver’s identification by Skaggs on it. The engraving embellishment clearly complements the classic style of this knife. The gold bear inlay features a pleasing coarse hair texture that harmonizes with the stag scales. Many experienced engravers specifically comment on the nice treatment of the rivets as well. We hope you enjoy this bit of knifemaking and engraving history from the early 1980’s.
