A Bracelet of a Different Shape
A bracelet like this one - with its domed surface and neat hinge - is quite different perhaps from what many engraver's encounter in the jewelry field. Fitting nice and snug on a small feminine wrist, this thick cut of metal is a bold choice.
Lee Griffiths engraved a wonderful three-dimensional design that covers the main surface. The flares of his cuts pick up light well enough to make the metal sparkle quite nicely. An array of small stones (set by the bracelet's maker Eberhard Mach) add to the sparkle factor. The stones are set on the end of the bracelet where the two halves meet. With blue stones on one side and white on the other, this variety only increases the interesting qualities found in the bracelet.
Although this bracelet is thick and obvious, the engraving and stone setting give an elegant and more delicate appearance. This contrast is perfect for custom pieces like this bracelet. Where the average flat bracelet may be glanced at by most, a different shape like this one demands more than just a passing glance.
