The Dragon Gun, Part 3
This progression photo of Lee Griffiths’ “Dragon Gun” shows
the beginnings of a unique character slithering into
a scene of scrolls. Once a simple Perazzi Over-and-Under
shotgun, Griffiths has transformed the plain and smooth
metal into a textured fantasy.
This unfinished receiver is home to a white-bellied dragon — one
of many on this firearm. The dragon is made up of several metal inlays
that have been textured and engraved to add dimension. The previous
featured dragon from this gun clutched a tower, but this long, snake-like
creature holds a small silver ball in his claws. The same style punch-dot
background and large, open scrolls from the bottom of the receiver
continue here to form the environment for a spectacular dragon.
If you would like to learn how to engrave like this, Lee Griffiths
