In Memory of a Young Hunter
Beau Arndt, an 18 year old Emporia State University student, was
shot and killed while goose hunting with his friends in December 2007.
In his memory, fellow ESU student and hobbyist engraver Jake Newell
created this memorial plate as a gift for the family.
"I never knew Beau, but we had a lot in common. We had both
grown up in the Emporia area, we were both avid hunters, and we both
attended Emporia State," Jake said. The inspiration for creating
this engraving came about from the grace and forgiveness shown by the
young man's parents. "Their forgiveness and concern for others
was astounding," Jake said, "As much as they had done for
others, I figured it was time to do something for them."
The plate, which is approximately 4" across, features three
geese flying high through the clouds. Beau's name is inscribed in simple
script lettering across the bottom of the plate. This beautiful memorial
is a dear and precious gift for a family that lost a son at such a
young age.
