The End of Week One - Grand Masters 2007
Nearing the end of the first week of the Third Annual Grand Masters
Program, the students are quiet and focused. With
such serious students one can expect to see some serious advancement.
The work featured here is a contrast between using traditional tools and pneumatic
ones. Although both are different, these students are quickly
adding value to their skills through this class.
Student John Pease, who is from Chester, Massachusetts, works with
traditional tools like a chasing hammer
during this course. His beautiful engraving
techniques have improved even from earlier
in the week. Robert Strosin, another
student of Winston's during Grand Masters,
has also been adding to his skills while studying under Winston. During
class, Robert uses GRS pneumatic tools and a microscope.
He is from Wisconsin Rapids,
Wisconsin.
While these students did not come to class empty handed, they will
all leave
with much more knowledge about this art
of engraving. Studying even for a
few days under masters like Winston Churchill
is truly a rewarding
experience for all who attend the Grand
Masters courses.
