In Memory of Dakota:
An Amazing Piece of Student Work
Jake Newell, a 21-year-old Emporia State University
student, engraved this bulino likeness
in memory of his very special hunting
dog Dakota. Jake was actually working
on his Education major when he became
intrigued by ESU's new Engraving Arts
program.
To date, he has only had two
semester engraving courses, one in
Fall 2006 and another in Spring 2007. He
followed these university courses
with some independent study under
instructor Chris DeCamillis. Jake began this engraving with only 6 months engraving experience, finishing during the course of the spring semester.
Engraving work like this is unusual. To accomplish this level of
proficiency
in the time Jake did is almost unbelievable.
Dedication, talent, excellent
instruction, and a love of the art were
combined to make this happen.
For more information on learning to engrave, call the GRS
Training Center at 1-800-835-3519 or

Chris DeCamillis is an experienced professional
who teaches several bulino
classes throughout the year. These classes
fill up quickly and seats are
limited, so call today to enroll.
