A Champion’s Buckle
Annually, as part of the Atlanta
Blade Show & International Cutlery Fair, Blade Magazine hosts a special knife cutting competition. The 1st
place prize for 2007 was a belt buckle engraved by Christian DeCamillis.
Chris used a fine-line bulino style on the 400 series stainless steel buckle.
His shading techniques provide a graceful transition from one engraved area to
another. Important in such an award piece, the banners clearly stand out
yet fit the overall design nicely.
This buckle was won by noted knifemaker Reggie Barker, who has won many such
competitions. To learn more about Mr. Barker, visit his website Border
Guard Forge at www.reggiebarkerknives.com.
Tools used: GraverMach
with Airtact control,
and 901 and Monarch handpieces.
