Beads Don’t Have to be Round
Magnus Jensen, a top Swedish goldsmith, stone setter and teacher,
sent this interesting example of a wedding band he recently set with 1.4mm Flanders Cut diamonds.
The Flanders Cut is partly related to the round ideal brilliant cut, but it has angled corners
similar to an emerald cut and a square girdle. This provides a unique appearance, remarkable
brilliance and an opportunity to try something different in jewelry design.
Magnus decided to use triangular-shaped “beads” with bright cut sides. It gives a noticeably
fresh look, with a hint of channel set. The triangular beads create definite boldness to complement
the square shaped stones. A very nice wedding band job, Magnus . . . thanks for sharing.
Tools used: GRS GraverMach and a 901 Handpiece.
