Andrew Biggs loves to engrave, and he is pretty good at what he does. His work often involves bringing out the fantastic culture of his native New Zealand.

With a rich Maori history and mythology, this New Zealand culture provides a wellspring of creativity. Here Andrew finds an interesting design element in the story of "Maui Tikitiki A Taranga", a demi-god of Maori mythology. The particular story that gives this design inspiration involves Maui, the brothers of Maui, and a fishing expedition of sorts. The final work for these drawings is a timepiece that Andrew Biggs has transformed into a modern storyboard.

The layout for the watch, which has areas of high-contrast that look great on the finished watch, details aspects of the legend through the stylized patterns and faces. Andrew captures the essence of the Maori culture in quite a small space. Look for the finished watch in the next Featured Photos.
