Western Bright Cut looks great and has many applications, from bracelets to conchos to belt buckles. With the highly-reflective cuts and such versatility, many engravers love to use this style.

Diane Scalese, well known for her talent of engraving super-shiny bright cuts with her mirror-polished flat gravers, has created this silver pendant using two engraving styles. Diane's bright cuts make for an interesting frame around the head of a bulino-style horse. These two very different styles are not often seen together, yet are very creatively joined for this piece of jewelry. The sparkling cuts of the Western style contrast just right with the dark cuts of the bulino.

Consider how you can take two very different engraving styles and bring them together onto a single workpiece. Start out with two very different styles, then use two similar styles. Trying new ways of engraving can present challenges that make your work even better and help broaden your engraving knowledge.
